About
The Whipmakers of MidWestWhips
Paul Nolan has crafted whips for Hollywood films, notably "The
Rundown;" national television shows, notably "Andromeda;" whip cracking
enthusiasts; and performers all over the world. His whips are
used by Chris Camp (Guinness Record holder, multiple whip cracking
champion, and has cracked whips on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno),
Gery Deer (who has performed on the Steve Harvey Bigtime Challenge, and
America's got Talent),
and Alex Green (Personal Whips Trainer to Anthony Hopkins, Antonio
Banderas, and Halle Berry).
Paul's whipmaking career began at a young age with his love of the
Indiana Jones movies, which inspired him to try making his first
whip, and quickly became fascinated by the infinite possibilities and
challenges whipmaking offered. A few years later after making
hundreds of whip, he founded MidWestWhips to continue and share
his passion for creating whips, and to help spread the sport and
knowledge of skilled whipcracking.
A few years ago, Lauren Wickline met Paul at a western whipcracking
event in Ohio, and immediately began learning to braid her own whips
alongside Paul. After working daily with him for over a year, her
skills had quickly progressed to the level where she was producing
professional top-quality whips, up to the highest standards of
MidWestWhips, and a partnership was born. Lauren and Paul's
shared passion for Indiana Jones,
whipcracking, whipmaking, and a plethora of other interests led them to
create a shared whipmaking workshop and become partners in
MidWestWhips.
Since then, the MidWestWhips whipmaking pair has made whips for
hundreds more satisfied customers including some never-before-seen
concept whips, whips for featured films including "The Prince of
Persia" to be released in Summer 2009, and performers and educators
around the world.
